If it was the paint, the switches wouldn't be grounding and the lights would be off, so I don't think it's the paint. The way the wire plug into the switch is kind of cheezy.. my guess is that one of your door leads is loose and grounding at one of your jam switches.

If you have an ohm meter you can disconnect the harness at the main connection by the fuse box and check for continuity on the white wire of the harness... there shouldn't be any with the doors closed.
