Introduction w/pics

I wanted to say hello to everyone on the board and to post a few pics of my truck. I have lurked on the board for some time, then joined. I have finally decided to post and show everyone the truck. Here is the link to the current photos.

It is a 1970 GMC Sierra Grande Custom. It was originally green with light green cab. It had nearly all options including the bedside tool box. I have had it since my father bought it when I was 3 years old. I drove it through high school and when I was in college, an uninsured motocyclist hit me. He ran a red light and hit me behind the rear drivers side wheel. He did a Superman over the bed and landed without injury on the grass next to the street, but the truck didn't fare so well. It was plenty drivable, but not repairable. I drove it with the huge dent for a couple of years when 15 year driver (had license less than a month) turned into a parking lot where the truck was and hit the same spot only on the passenger side! Well I drove it on and off for the next four or five years when I parked it for about two years. I found a donor bed and put it on. I drove it another year or two that way and parked it. I am only now beginning to work on it again. It has been parked about four years now. Over the years I put two different engines in it. The original 350 began to act up (bearings) at around 100,000 miles, so a 305 was found and put it. I drove that 305 for about 95,000 more miles, then found another 350 out of a early 90's pickup. It is a strong engine that burns some oil, so it will need a rebuild or replacement fairly soon.

I love the truck dearly and will never sell it. I have all the parts for a complete A/C rebuild, I put an aftermarket poly suburban tank in. I have misc parts and plan to begin work in earnest on it. I have discovered that rust has taken hold in my doors and under one fender. Overall, the truck is in great shape. My short term plans are to make it look decent with primer and driving it. Long term I want a fuel injected small block (daily driver so I want mileage) and an overdrive tranny. I want disc brakes all around, a seat from a late model Chevy/GMC truck, and billet accessories on the dash. I really enjoy this board and hope that it will help me along with the rebuild.
