Anybody know all the in's and outs of this conversion? I'd like a simple solution that doesn't cost me a couple house payments. New wheel cylinders for the 3/4 ton front drum setup are nearly 60 bucks a pop now days. I could rebuild the cylinders to save some money but then I'm still stuck with a brake setup that needs a lot of road to stop the boat or the horse trailer we haul...all the while I'm hoping the drums don't crack or need turned/replaced anytime soon.
I want to know for sure what year disc spindles/a-arms or combo will work for converting my 68 3/4 ton drum brakes to discs? I'm running 16.5x8.25 stock rims.
I know I'll need a master cylinder from a disc-brake front/drum brake rear setup truck as well but can I use the same 68 booster?
When were discs on a 3/4ton first available--69? or 71? Do those parts just bolt right up if I can find a parter or a few board members with those pieces?
