? about cutting coils

i was thinkin about just cuttin coils and doin my flip to give me a 3/5 drop in a hurry, granted i know it isnt the best way to do it, its a good quick and dirty way untill i can stand to throw down the $500+ for spindles and other goodies that i really want.
anywho...i have 2 questions
1. how much should i cut off to drop the front 3"? im pretty sure i need to cut a coil and a half, but figured id better as first
2. exactly how god awful is it gonna ride done this way? it pretty much rides like a tractor anyway due to stiff arse rear supsension(which i will remedy soon) so long as it is SAFE, i really care not.
thanks
Dan
