What a colossal PITA...

Ok, here was the issue:

69 Chev with a transplanted 472 caddy motor in it. Runs great more filling.

Over heats. Average temp running down the highway was around 230-240.

When I put it in the truck, I didn't shove the engine back to the firewall. I left about an inch and a half for clearence.

I was not able to run the factory clutch fan.

Also, Oil pressure starts at around 40PSI and drops to zilch when it is really hot.

Solution:

Two days and lots of sweat later, I shoved the engine back one inch and took the non-clutched fan and mounting spacer from the 77 that I just got and after milling the spacer down 5/8 of an inch, installed it and removed the electric fan that I had in there.

Now Temp stays at 185 regardless of driving conditions.

Oil pressure starts still at 40PSI but only drops to about 23PSI at temp(I think the bypass spring may need replacing...

Problem solved. What a PITA....
