Door Panels - Paint or dye???

I've been planning for a while to switch the interior of my Burb from tan to black, and I finally have some time to do it. I got a good deal on some black leather seats from a totaled 2001 blazer, and pretty much everything else I need (except black seat belts of course, it seems like you pretty much have to give up your first born to get a set of those). Otherwise, the interior is now totally gutted and I'm ready to go. But my question is, should the door panels be painted with normal rattle can paint or dyed with some premixed SEM spray? I'm not sure of the panels' composition. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn
