The importance of rocker boxes, and why to not remove them.
I have a '72 blazer. I bought it with these nifty saddle tanks that sit below the front seats.
Unfortunatley, The installers felt it nescessary to hack out the rocker boxes to make the tanks fit. So, the problem is that if I go wheeling, or get any one wheel just a tad higher than the others, I start having issues with getting out of the truck. These doors are closed solid. If you try to open them, they wont, but when the body twists the other way, they pop open. Nice huh?? If I had the top on it still, it adds some structual help, but the top is only fiberglas, and is showing fatigue already.... I need some better cross members. This concludes this lesson on why rocker boxes are important.
