Long bed to short bed conversion

hey there guys,

Yet again I would like to ask for your help on the age old project of shortening a long box. I have read the posts in the faq section and it is extremely informative. My only questions are about where the post left off about leaf spring trucks, can this be done to a leaf spring truck? Is there enough at the end of the framerail to trim the remaining 8 inches? Also my last question has anyone ever shortened the box itself? I would like to use my front wall and just buy new sides, and cut down the rails on the floor (its a wood bed floor)? Any help or direction anyone could give is much appreciated.
