Top of door jam

Hey guys, need some help here. Since my buddy and I stripped my 69 down to bare metal I have a bit of a problem. I did not strip the upper parts of the door jams, my buddy did, and I do not know what they are supposed to look like. You know, right in the middle, there looks like they did not have enough metal to connect the front to the rear so they bridged it, then filled it with body seam sealer or something. Can you guys post some pics so I know how to make it look. The bigger and clearer the better.

Right here where the door post goes through between the part in question.

Is it supposed to be smooth there or what? If not, has anyone made it smooth through there?

Mike
