Found these at the dump today...
I had to haul some cardboard and some other trash to the "transfer station" (or as some of us call "the dump") earlier today (the one in Fremont to anyone who lives in Seattle), and managed to glance in the metal pile near the side of the building where people dump metal pipe, old hot water heaters, and other metal scrap that can't go in the trash.
This is what I found (see attached - took these with my cell phone). Matching doors off what looks like either a '71 or '72 chevy just laying there in the pile. They needed bottoms (they were partially rusted out), but not nearly as bad as I've seen. They were completely salvageable. They still had the glass, the door panels, the vent windows, the chrome, and all of the hardware still in them. The worst part is the morons who work there wouldn't let me take them. Aparently it's against the law - at least that's what they said (I call bullsh!t). They're also not allowed to take them either. The place has cameras and it's an immediate dismissal if they get caught. "sorry dude, they're trash now". I said, "No, they're not trash. They're good doors. When they GET CRUSHED they're trash..." He lost patience with me and told me to take a hike. ...so...I had to just leave them for the crusher. Man, I was pissed. There were also piles of rings and pinions in good shape. What looked like parts to a 3 speed. A complete exhaust system including ceramic coated headers, and some other odds and ends. Looks like someone might have gotten a divorce or something... Anyone want to own-up to this one?
