Tow Hook/Heater Shield

Searching on Ebay turned up 2 interesting items on the same listing. Don't know how to link but it is item# 4636661293 1970 70 Commercial All Wheel Drive Truck.

Greenhorn Male had offered for sale a 4 bolt heavy duty tow hook. A lot of discussion followed about the mounting location of this particular item. I happened to see a 60 series truck the same day with a pair of the HD tow hooks mounted just like this truck. It was finally decided the early HD hooks mounted this way while mid to later 70's style HD mounted to the frame sideways.

Same truck different item. About 3 months ago somebody brought up for discussion a shield on the heater box as shown in the factory assembly manual. The interior pictures show this rig has that shield. It is the sheet metal plate in the center below the heater controls. I think the only purpose is to avoid hitting the control cable and lever arm with your feet as the firewall on these trucks is somewhat closer to the seat(less foot room). Very few board members had seen this shield. I have wondered about mounting something in that location (clock, gauge, etc.) but decided it would be extremely hard to see while driving. Maybe a courtesy lamp or ???

For those of us looking for WIERD items here are 2 on the same truck.
