Driveshafts Unlimited - San Antonio
Let me tell ya a little story. No, not about a man named Jed.
Found a one piece drive shaft from a 78 chevy 1/2 ton for my slowly progressing 68 GMC 700r4 swap. I measured like 5 times and decided it needed to be 3 1/2" shorter. Measure twice, cut once, right? I found Driveshafts Unlimited to be the closest, 35 miles one way. Yesterday I took it to these guys to have it shortened. Took them about 2 hours, including their 1/2 hour lunch break and the fact that there were customers ahead of me. $70.00 to shorten by 3 1/2" and install 2 new U-joints. Good job, timely service and reasonable prices guys! I got it home and it's a good thing there were no kids out playing because I cussed a blue streak! My mistake, not theirs. Not only had I not measured right (still too long) but I had forgotten that the drive shaft came out of a 1/2 ton but was going into a 3/4 ton. Whats that mean? It means it needs a 3/4 ton size U-joint on the tail end! DOH! So today I took it back along with the original short shaft hoping they can use the bigger end off of it to fix my f'up. Another 70 mile round trip. I got there at 9:00 am and by 9:30 they had it done and I was headed home. And what did they charge me to fix my screw up you may ask, no go ahead, ask.. NOTHING! Zip, zero, zilch! They knew I had quite a bit of time and travel invested. They just asked that I send them some business. I can damn sure do that! If you're in the area and need driveshaft work these are the guys to see. Drive Shafts Unlimited 150 South Ww White Road San Antonio, TX 78219 (210) 333-5050 |
