power steering conversion 68K10
I am getting ready to mount my power steering gear box on the frame, and in need of some of some advice. I have read some of the post showing how this is done, but am still lost. It appears that only one bolt hole lines up with my new box, I am using one from a '72 K10. If I line up this hole and hold the box in position where I believe it should be, the steering joint at the end seems to be in the same position it was when I had the manual box bolted in place. Is it really necessary to dimple the frame or can I just shim the box out? I will not be taking this out in mud bogs, just mostly street use, maybe an occasional trip out through a field, but I doubt it will ever see any mud. I am planning to run a stock suspension, but might add a 2" lift down the road. And finally, I am planning to switch to the 72 steering column, and wondering if my '68 steering wheel will fit and if I position the box in the same position as the old one if this will be correct. I had already stripped down to bare frame before deciding on the power steering swap and am trying to avoid putting cab back on before frame is painted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff
