Serpentine Belt swap done Review
Well, It wasn't that bad. But for someone who was used to fooling with Hondas before I had a few surprises. I decided to use brackets from a 95 TBI pickup because they were readily available. I purchased a new alternator, tensioner, idler and a NEW GM compressor(Damn it was expensive)
Then I learned that I would have to replace the water pump since the serp setup used a reverse rotation pump. No big deal, but that would mean my old fan was useless. So I decided to go Electric. Brackets bolted up good and since the A/C and alt were on opposite sides, some wiring was neccesary. A/C harness just needed to be re-routed and I had to buy a new Pigtail from GM for the Clutch because the one I cut off the donor vehicle did not match, go figure. Alternator harness was extended a bit then I used this cool adapter from advance auto parts that is made by AC DELCO. P/S pump would not fit right, So I ended up replacing the pump and the Pressure hose with ones for the newer model (95) My last hurdle is the A/C lines. I've done some tweaking on them, but the high side line that comes from the compressor to the condenser is in a bit of a bind causing a slight kink in the rubber part of the hose. I'll see what happens. As far as the electric fan goes. I am using a SPAL Fan-PWM module. This thing is great. its got 2 fan speeds and can use the sending unit from an autometer electronic gauge. It also has an A/C request input so when you turn on the A/C the fan(s) kick on high. It is also programable to whatever temps you want the high and low speed to be. Check it out at www.spalusa.com costed me $75.00 on Ebay. I'll keep this updated and post pics tomorrow. ![]()
