68 stepside Need to slam HELP!

What springs do you recommend, and what is a good drop height. I have a stock 68 chevy truck and could I still drop it even though I still have the drum set ups. How important are drop spindles? What kind of shocks if I just go springs? I plan on getting the the conversion kit and leaving it 6 Lug. The truck is so old the lug pattern has come back to style....The body is coming along....but I would like to drop to improve handling and of course the look. Once I'm into the job what else do you recommend be replaced since the truck is appart...
