Has a Crossmember been removed?

Hi guys,
Am stripping my frame down to get blasted. Only the front Suspension X Member and the transmission Xmember to remove and its good to go.
One question though....
Between the front suspension X meber and the Transmission X Member there are two rivets through the bottom of the frame on each side. They look like they have been cut a long time ago but I cant see what they would have retained... IS there supposed to be an additional X member here or is somethign else missing.

Can post pics if it helps.
Truck is a 72 SWB Step. It originally had a 400ci and I believe it was a MT but is now a 350ci with a TH400....

Cheers
Lee
