Watt Did U Get Dun This Weekin?
I know it's early since most of us have a three day weekend, but I am so happy about what I accomplished that I couldn't wait until tomorrow or Tuesday.
I installed my Early Classic Hidden Hitch Receiver yesterday afternoon, evening, night, and early this morning (I finished at 4:15AM). The frame on my K5 has probably seen 3 hitches in the past, the frame ends were swiss-cheesed, split, and had stuff welded all over them. I spent quite a bit of time cutting stuff off and cleaning it up, then welded 2" angle gussets to the frame ends to support the hitch receiver. I still have to pull it back off so I can remove the bumper brackets that some PO had WELDED to the frame. Why people do crap like this I won't know. I cannot install the last two bolts closest to the frame ends until I do this. So without any more delay, here are the pics of what I started, worked on, and finished with last night. The hitch receiver has been sitting in the back of the Blazer since Spring 2005... Frame condition (poor): Gusset Plates I added:
