I was told that no matter what you do, get the truck running and registered now, tested and legal, THEN start your swap. I hear most older vehicles (non-ODB1/ODB2) only get the sniffer test. If they never lift the hood during inspections, nobody is gonna know what the hell is in there.

OR if it will be a problem, just convert the damned thing to use a carb and standard intake. There was an article about this in one of the classic truck mags last year. Tells you all the stuff you need. No PCM is required, just a control box that MSD or F.A.S.T. sells (I forget which). I suppose I could locate and scan the article if interest was there, I finally got a new scanner that makes scanning to PDF a snap.
