Questions for Lokar Shifter Guys

I like the look of the Lokar shifters. I have not had any luck finding out how they work though. I had a B&M Star or Mega Shifter in my drag truck and loved the "slap-stick" action. My new project truck is more street but I am using the existing drag truck running gear. This means the first time a Civic with a folgers can exhaust rev's his motor, I will have to prove him and my girlfriend that my ego has not changed since high school.

Questions:
Lokar says a nylon button... what does it do/for?

With a Lokar, do you have the ability to shift gears manually? If so, am I going to fly through 3rd and hit neutral or worse, reverse at 7200rpm?

I know that as I get older, I will have to sacifrice streetabilty, driveability, form, function, fit and finish so I would like to know if you have a Lokar, would you recomend it?

Last, if you have one, what length?

Thanks in advance and as always, pics would be great if you have one
