A starter 15 year plan
Hello everyone. Name's Travis Hageman, location Wisconsin. Have this 66 pickup with what I believe to be a 292 inline 6, matched to a transplanted 3 speed from a pontiac car. Gear shift was switched from 3 on the tree to a hole cut in the floor by a previous owner. Havent got much of a history on the truck, as its had many previous owners.
Bought it for 300 bucks cash, had no front bumper, no tail lights and no bed. Built the bed myself using treated 4 by 4s, 8 or so 2 by 4s and 2 pieces of 1/2 inch plywood. The fenders are from farm and fleet, drilled to be screwed on. Had the heavy duty tube rear bumper on it from the get go with slots cut for taillights, so I wired up trailer lights for the inside. Also bought a set of used 16 inch wheels and tires from a guy I used to work with. Plans are to make it a functional working truck, sans wood bed. Would like to have a late model bed floor put into the box so it can be rhino or linex'd. For an engine, 502 crate most likely, big block for sure. And then either a 5 speed manual or a 4L80e automatic. Like to also do a front brake disc conversion from a newer 3/4 ton. My personal history, went to WyoTech, gradutated with a degree in Automotive service management and with honors in my class. Worked at a Chevy dealership for a year and a half, then now I'm a motorcoach driver for a local company. I did obtain my ASE Master tech Certification. I should have enough knowledge to piece together this beast. I'm about to get married soon, so funds are really tight. Being I rent currently, I'm not allowed to "tear apart", but only to "maintain street legality". Runs and drives pretty reliable. Put 4 thousand miles on it last summer. Always looking for parts, but not so much the expensive ones. -Travis |
