Cool Engine Harness w/ HEI & Shorty Starter

I'm installing an American Autowire Engine harness on my 350 w/ HEI. I came across a "head-scratcher". I have one of the after-market hi-torque shorty starters. Currently I only have a purple wire and the + battery cable attached to the starter. The wires on the American Autowire harness to the starter are purple and yellow. What do i do with the extra yellow wire?

Also- on the HEI terminal, there is a thick pink wire and a yellow wire terminated in the same clip. I assume the thick pink is carrying juice from the bulkhead. What is the yellow wire doing?

The factory package says it is the correct HEI harness- so i don;t think it was a part mix-up.

So- Should I just clip the yellow wire to the starter and only attach the purple?

Also- My '71 has a mechanical oil pressure gauge. They included a plug for what i think is an oil sender (dark blue). I assume I should snip this off. I don;t have a sender for an idiot-light, do I? I only have the mechanical gauge?

Thanks Folks-
