9" Ford vs Stock Rearend---Help!
I want to convert my stock rearend over to disc brakes. I see the kits are around 500.00 bucks plus shipping. In addition, I will need to put posi in the rearend.
A gentleman I know here in my town suggested that I buy a 9" Ford rearend that has disc brakes and convert it over for my truck. First off, how much should I expect to pay for a 9" Ford rearend from a salvage yard? Will it already be posi track? And finally, what kind of modification will have to be made to the axle in order to get it to fit under the truck (I have coils). I see that Chevy Duty has a Rear Axle Conversion Kit for 140.00...is that worth it? Thanks for your help. ------------------ 2001 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax, Allison, 4WD, Love it 1971 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 2WD Short/Step Side. In process of frame off restoration
