LWB 3.5-5 drop Problems
I lowered my truck 3 years ago. I used CPP 2.5" drop spindles and ECE 1" drop coils in front and 5" coils in the rear. Initially, I threw some 255/60/R15 on the front. Those rubbed at every corner with the body roll and on dips. I didn't have the money for new wheels so I dropped the tire size up front to 235/60/R15. These don't rub on corners but rub when hitting a big dip. I think they look funny to. My front end will also slam the pavement on big freeway dips(so thats what they mean by slammed...lol).
I am in the market for some new tires and now I have the money for some cheaper wheels. Does anyone with a longbed and the same drop have similar issues that they resolved or will it be a non stop thing. I tried the local tire shop and they don't know. I also don't want to go to a higher end shop to get some good advice because of money. I know I need the wheels to have more backspacing to bring them into the wheel well more, but will the front end keep slamming the ground on large dips? I am figuring the smaller tires up front aren't helping this but will 255/60 fix this? If it is going to keep bottoming out, I will go ahead and put stock coils up front. Anybody drop their longbed with 2.5 spindles and 5" rear coil drop? If new wheels will work...what kind of specs are needed? I want to stay with 15in wheels. Thinking of the American Racing BAJA polished (six lug)
