SMG / DSG Gearbox in our trucks?

There I was out in my shop enjoying a tall-boy after welding up the marker holes and various other holes the PO drilled in my fender(s).......when BAM- I had a think! Ya know how alot of the German cars these days are coming out with those funky tranny's that can operate as full auto or totally manual shift via spiffy, F1 inspired "paddles" on the steering column? Yeah- you know where I'm goin' with this! Does anybody have an idea of how I could mate a
'67 327 ci Chevrolet V8 engine to a ZF or Getrag 6 speed SMG gearbox out of say an effed-up '06 5-series bimmer? I know this would be totally one-off custom built, but do ya'll think it's possible or have the malted hops and bong-resins of my youth totally got my thinkin' crazy?
