Bumpers are On!

I went and picked up the bumpers that I asked about yesterday that were $100. I see what you guys meant about the middle brackets. They are way too short. I just bolted it on with the outers and called it good. I kind of tucked the rear in to the body as close as I could to try to make it look good, which it does I think.

However, I have run into a problem. With the bumper sitting the way that I currently have it, I can't open my tailgate all the way because it hits the top of the bumper. I tried to adjust the bumper down some to clear. When I get it down so the tailgate clears, it looks like crap.

Is there any way to fix this with the brackets that I have? Will drilling new mounting holes in the frame be the solution here, or do I need to lower it back down and live with it until I can get the correct brackets. Have any of you run into this when you put a rear bumper off of a Blazer/Suburban onto a pickup? I'm attaching some pics so maybe somebody can tell me what I did wrong here. ...Joe
