67 GMC grille question

I've read in some archived posts about the changes that are necessary to put a 67 GMC grille on a 72 GMC front clip. While there is a lot of info, I'm still confused about something and need some opinions.

1) am I required to remove the eyebrows and top bar to run the 67 grille?
2) has anyone else done this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^?

My concern is that I have a very nice 72 front end with good chrome and a good hood that I don't want to change, but I have a painted grille that I do want to change. I MUCH prefer the 67 chrome grille to the latter years, as I don't like the black accents. Opinions?
