Heavier Suspension Conversion?

Hey all. I've got a '85 "big 10" that I'm looking to do some cross country traveling with. I'm building her up to have plenty of power, but I'm looking to pull a 40' trailer (about 9K lbs). So, what all needs to be done? Can I put on the heavier spring pack and roll, or do I have to convert to the 14 bolt rear end and 6/8 lug? Many have told me to get another truck, I haven't slapped anyone as yet. I love my truck! As always, thanks in advance for the advice.
