Steering Box Support. - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a friend with a 75 long box. He had his frame crack where the steering box bolts up due to stress on the frame. Anyone else have this problem? We fixed his by welding it back together and then welding a backing plate or boxed in the frame where the steering box is. His truck is quite the work rig though.
I want to avoid this on my truck any suggestions.??
I got a alignment and they are telling me my steering box is toasted. When I replace it I want to help out the frame.
