Well I took home those digrams and wiring info I got from you all and felt all gungho, my lights were working, shifting linkage was ready to be installed, had my pull switch ready to set up my backing lamps. So I go and connect the starter from the Ign., and I go to connect my Alt., I couldn't figure out how the Dist. connected to whatever. So I thought, why not try the key to see what happens. It tried to turn over about 5x's but wouldn't. Then it would'nt even try turn over and the lights just stopped working all together, not even the wipers worked. The battery wasn't weak, and the gas gauge was reading. I figured I blew a fuse, so I changed all the fuses...Nothing.
I don't know what happened. I also had unplugged the Switch on the column for the back-up lamps. What happened? I'm sure it has to do with the distributer, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE OR HOW OR TO WHAT IT GOES TOO!!!!! All I know is that below the hood cowl and above the engine in the wire gutter, there are threeor four wires. A Purple one for the starter, a green one, a white one and I think a yellow one. They come from the little port above the the port for the lighting. WHAT THE HELL DO THESE WIRES DO?????????? If any one can help me out. How do you make a 3-speed column work for auto, I got it I think, I'm just checking. I'm sorry guys...I feel dumb...Whats a Tranny? HA HA ![]() I'm very new to auto stuff as you can tell. But I get a lot of help from my dad, his mechanic and my girlfreinds dad and some stuff from here and some I learn all my own. I appreciate this place very much. Without it I don't think I would have the courage to try to do stuff myself. I'm sorry I've just gone off tonight, but it's either get help for my truck or practice my sax...both of which are important, but I need my truck to get me places, or practice will be for nothing. Dig, guys? I'll tell my story about how I got fascinated with 67-72 bowties later.
