Upgrade to internal regulator - question not in FAQ
Hey folks, I just upgraded to a 100 amp alternator and eliminated my external regulator. In the FAQ, the connector on the regulator is just left hanging. I know I can just cut the remaining two wires and tape them off, but I was wordering where they went and what others had done.
I just taped the end of the connector and left it (in case I needed to go back to the old alt for some reason...) The switch-over went really well and seems to be working fine. When I initially fired it up, the amp gauge dipped to discharge for a second and then jumped back to the middle and has pretty much stayed there. I picked up a black powdercoated si12 from Summit for $82. Felt really good getting that old regulator box off the radiator support. Seems hard to believe these trucks came with a 37 amp alternator.
