AC compressor options?
I am nowhere near actually making this change over, but I always have questions in my head that I want answers too. I know it is possible to use different AC compressors on our trucks. I would kinda like to find a newer more efficient compressor that would still mount up fairly easily. I can fab up some brackets if I need to. Does anyone have any recommendations for a donor vehicle (for a salvage yard find) or even an aftermarket unit? There is all kinds of stuff on the internet, but I am hoping to get some first hand recommendations from someone that has used one of these compressors. If I ever do this, the rest of the AC system would probably retain the stock parts, other than the small parts required to use 134A. By the way, I am well aware I will probably have to braise the factory manifold to the high and low-pressure fittings on a different compressor.
