Someone check my logic here

In the last month, I've aquired two different rear ends for the low, low price of "Come get it and it's yours..." Gotta love free parts!

One is out of about a 94 Camaro, the other is from an 89 Cadillac. The Camaro rear is too wide for my 57, but the Cadillac one is an exact match to the stock width. However, the Cadillac rear is a 2.93 while the Camaro is a 3.42.

Both of them are 7.5" GM 10-bolt open diffs. Not the greatest in the world, but again, they were free and should work just fine for me. 2.93 isn't horrible, but I'd much rather have the 3.42.

Is there anything that could stop me from swapping the ring and pinion from one to the other?
