Master Cyl. question

I'm working on my brakes, I need to bleed air out of the master. It was kinda cruddy inside, so I decided to remove and clean out the resevoirs. What I discovered was (according to the Haynes manual) is that the "stop screw" is missing from the front resevoir. Do I need that screw? If so, can I replace w/ any screw of the same pitch, or should I buy a new master? Thanks all....
