'74 Ideas
Hi, I'm new to this forum and I was looking about getting some feedback on ideas for my 1974 Chevy Custom-30 1-ton dually cab and chassis 2wd. This was my grandfather's truck, bought new in 74 and its been sitting on our farm since 1997. It desperatly needs a clutch, I need a porportioning(sp?) valve, serious body work. The interior is basic so it only needs a dash cap and I'd get away with a seat cover. The rocker panels on each side are way past gone, thanks to those goofy diamond plate running boards, and the rot goes up into the cab, and stops under the sill plates. Fenders and doors have minor rust and dents, its no show truck.
Now this truck is a cab and chassis and has no body on the back at all right now, and I've been thinking of doing some sort of bed on the back. I want to do a flareless dually, since it has the narrow rear axle, and since its a cab and chassis cab to axle lengths are different, or so i'm told, so a stock bed would look silly. I was thinking about getting a pair of step side fenders, and making a simplistic long bed to attach the fenders to, to have a long bed dually step side. Any ideas or suggestions on how I might do this? |
