big block vs Tranny

Well i just picked up my 454 today.. came out of a 84 3/4 ton turn key for $500
i think i got a good deal. ill get pictures later

350 staying in it another year im sure (while im building it).

i want a Manual not an automatic just for the sake of keeping it simple.
i plan on turning the BB into a 496 and ball park 500hp/600tq nothing to radical
what tranny can i get that will hold this stocker or built up.
was thinking a 5 or 6 speed out of a comaro ss or a corvette but i could use a few tips if anyone has seen this done or looked into it. running 4.10 rear end at them moment and ill only turn the motor 6k max.

Ideas? facts?
