If I am not mistaken, he took and inch off of the SD cups. That means the cups are about 1 1/2" tall. I cut mine 7/8" short, making my cups 1 5/8" tall. Supposedly on the 67-72 factory control arms, the bags will rub at full dump when the cups are cut 1". Some people don't care about this since there is no air in the bag, but I didn't want mine rubbing at all, so I left the extra 1/8". I don't know the results yet, b/c my suspension isn't done atm.
