Van column swap

Hi guys, I finally got a van tilt column for my '66. After mocking it up there's an issue; the "knuckle" of the intermediate shaft hits the inner fender. If I slide the column so the knuckle is closer to the firewall, it clears but the steering wheel ends up 1" from my chest when I'm in the drivers seat. Do any of you have pics of your tilt columns installed so I can see distance from the dash and also how the intermediate shaft clears the opening in the inner fender? Any help is appreciated.
