SM420 twin stick
anybody have pics of a twin stick on an SM420 transfer case? I have an idea but know there are some great fabricators on here. Any twin stick would be cool to see. How far between pivot and end? I'd like the pivot to be right at the floor hump level, so I can have a small boot opening and no movement there, but that means less leverage so I don't want it to be too ahrd to shift into gear. of course, it should take much to engage if properly setup. Also, how short can the shaft be and still get enough leverage? I may tack something up and see how small I can go and still easily engage. Anybody have an opinion on using bearings or just a greased up through bolt for the pivot?
Also, when I rebuilt my 420 I noticed that the detent balls on the shift rods are what keep you from doing 2-LO, anybody pulled that ball (perhaps with some other means of positively engaing the shifter in gear) to allow 2-LO? i ask b/c I have a 1 ton Eaton rear and a D44 and if I am pulling or hauling and want low gear I might not want to risk breaking my 1/2 ton 44.
