Alternator wiring?

I posted in the electrical section, but I want to see if anyone else can help that has possibly dealt with this issue. This is my original post http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=314935

What I have.
Delco 12si alternator
New EZ wire harness
New battery

Issue I have.
I turn key on (not run), no Generator light.
Engine start give it rpms and the Gen. light comes on and the alternator is charging, 14.34v at idle and 14.41 with rpms. This is voltage at the battery.
Once light is on it stays on until I shut off engine

I currently have the power Alt wire (red) to the back lug of Alt. and then jumping to the #2 terminal.
My excitor wire (white) going to the #1 terminal.
