Np 203 issue

Well My truck 77 K10 always seemed to shift fine. Then one day when I shifted it into low and back into hi it was not engaging. If I shift it out of high it will go into what ever range I choose but then when shifting back it gets stuck out. Normally it will get stuck between high and high lock. It will grind and not go into eather. Or it will go into high but won't actually ingauge. then If you gently pull it back into 4x4 hi lock it will grind a slight amount and click in. But because it is a full time it needs to be in high for street driving. So sometimes from high lock only it will shift into hi. the last time it did it I just left it in high not wanting to monkey around with it.

Does this sound like an adjustment issue?? I heard these are really hard to adjust and the shifter does not seem to have any slop. I can give a better explanation if specific questions are asked. The truck only has 28,000 so I am guessing the chain is not stretched?

Thanks for any input
