and yet more 6cyl questions

Hmm was just wondering can headers be run with the 1bbl carb and stock intake? Just block off that lower port? anyone done it before? Ive read the exhaust is the thing choking these motors the most.
Also exactly where are the block numbers by the distributor of these motors? can someone show a pic? Id hate to think I've found a 250 only to be 230 or worse a 194.
and finally is 66 the last year of the scribed cheverolet valve cover?
