? for those who have replaced their gas tank

On the old tank there are what appear to be spacers that sit on the top flanges of the tank.. They have rubber between them and the tank and rest against the frame. Is that correct? Anyway if thats what they are. I have missed placed one. Can I use any piece of flat metal Or do I eliminate them. What to truck guys do when they relocate the tank
Thanks for your help
