looked at my future 72'
Well my good friends dad decided to sell me one of their 5 72's...this one is a Ocre yellow 72' LWB fleet, 350,350, factory WORKING A/C. grill isnt busted. one problem...
This thing is ugly, has all the trim but the paints faded off and rusted, the cab is a mess, the bench is torn up,,needs a rocker and cab corner replacement on one side. but im only paying $800 for the truck and it runs and drives, doesnt eat tires, just has a mean exhaust leak. My Thoughts are get it, take two days off work, hit it hard and strip the paint, clean the rust off, and throw it in black primer till i can get some qaulity time with it, then De-grease and clean up the engine bay, and then take out the interior, do some cleaning in there, maybe find a new bench? and while i have that all out, rhino line the floorboard. The inside smells like a grease rag so maybe cleaning that will work that out. As for as the motor, this drivetrain is reallly solid. maybe do some headers, and a full exhaust. and be done. But what would everyone do about the paint? i really just want to get it into one color for the moment. ive heard use naval jelly on the rust spots but here is my total thoughts Stripper Scrapper Naval Jelly 80 Grit sand paper masking tape newspaper self etching black primer and go to town. i think i could knock the truck out in 2 days. |
