Yet another rear disc brake thread...
I am building my own rear disc setup on my dana44/dana60 gmc k20 4x4. I am using calipers off a 78 caddy with the e-brake built in. I am going to try using the same rotors as the dana 44 in front. I'm going to waterjet my own bracketry. Anyone think I'm crazy? Anyone KNOW that I'm using a wrong rotor/caliper? I know the rotor size on a 78 caddy is 11.16", but it is a 5 or 6 lug. I can't find a 8-lug rotor that size so the next smallest size rotor I can find is 12.5", the one on the front of the dana 44... It shouldn't matter that the rotors are bigger than the caddy rotors if I have full pad contact on the rotor and no interference with moving parts. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this themselves or if everyone just buys kits...
I think I have read all the threads on the topic and most talk about 12 bolt, 14 bolt ff, or eatons. If I missed something, please point it out. Thanks!
