Bed angle rails

I'm going to go with polished stainless bed strips. After I took my bed apart I now see that the angles are spot welded to the bed sides. Mine are in pretty good condition.

I was thinking of just painting the angles with the bed sides and using the stainless strips on the rest of the bed.

Has anyone done this? What does it look like? Pics please.

If I do decide to take them off and replace them with polished stainless ones, how does that work? Do the stainless ones bolt on where the old ones were spot welded or what?
