1968 Chevy C50 problems

I have a 1968 Chevy c50 with a 327v8. For some reason it is not getting fire to the coil from the starter. Does anybody know what could be causing this? Is it a broken wire or a fuse or what? We ran a wire straight from the starter to the coil and it started right up. we don't have the wire on there anymore. It started the other day when i put a new starter on but since it has sat for about 6months it didn't have time to pump fuel to the carb and my battery went dead. After i charged the battery and hooked it back up, it got no fire.

Also does anybody know where i can get body parts for my trucks around the northern ky area.
