Fuel Tank Sealant
My cab has been increasingly smelling more and more like gas, upon further inspection, it appeared to be leaking on the passenger side bottom of the tank (due to dark spots that looked like the may be letting some gas vaporize out). Since a new tank is $200+ and shipping another $125 I decided to try this product first...
http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/epoxygas.htm $83 with shipping. I syphoned the gas out, removed the tank, washed and rinsed with soapy water, washed with acetone and drywall screws, let dry and coated tank with the 2 part resin yesterday evening. Today I'll replace the tank, float, sending unit and seat and before work tomorrow morning put all my gas back into the tank. I'll let you all know how it turns out in the next few days. |
