Help a girl out

I've recently purchased a '67 GMC half-ton pickup. The shift lever broke off near the base (previous owner had welded it on). This is a three-speed column-mounted shifter, of course.
I have three options: weld it back on, buy a shifter kit and install it on the floor, or find an affordable steering column.
I would prefer the latter, but I'm having a hard time finding the part! Any suggestions?
