Question frame cutting

I have a 1967 c10 lwb, I want to cut the frame down to swb and have been looking around and have seen it done two ways. The first was to cut 12 inches out of the frame right behind the cab, this way you have to remove the rear end and all suspenion components and then try to get it all put back in. The second way was to cut the 12 inches out of the frame under the cab, then just slide the frame back together and weld. I have all the measurments to do it the first way but cant find any real info on where to cut under the cab. Does any one have info?
