xfer case drop

When I installed a 2" lift on the 85 Blazer I noticed a vibration from the rear drive shaft. New u-joints didn't fix the problem so I dropped the case using the spacers that were above the crossmember mount, put them under the frame. All is well, no vibration. Question is I should not have needed to do that with a 2 " lift and 33x12.50 tires. I don't like how it looks. If I were to have the driveshaft balanced and tested would I be able to put the case back to it's original position? I also noticed the ujoint replacement was not easy. Bearing caps were stubborn, I might have a problem there. It's ran 30k miles like this I just am tired of seeing the crossmember hanging down underneath.
